comments--

I think i finally fixed the comments problem--try again pretty please!!

Make paper socks and create a physical map of your world

Art Installations:
We went to a few art expedition in Venice as well as the Biennale exhibit. The Biennale is a yearly exhibit of either art or architecture. This year is art. Each country has a separate building that a famous architect form that country designed. Inside each one is an art exhibition by a well-known artist that refers to a theme . I have never seen art like this in my life. It gave me a new perspective on how to look at things. The detail that these individuals implemented was incredible. They took something that normally people do not think about and created a work of art that was symbolic by analyzing these instances.

My favorite was France. Sadly, my camera died. I will try my best to explain each part:
1. Be New-- The faces of 60 newborns are cut into 3 parts. They parade over the screen at high speed and are then recomposed to form almost a million and a half hybrid beings. Like them, we are physically just a puzzle of those who have preceded us. The eyes of one are juxtaposed with the mouth of another.

2. Talking Chairs: Chairs were scattered throughout the French Pavillion. When you sit down they ask, each in a different language, "Is this the last time?". Again, only fate can answer that question, which may apply to any moment in life.

We also went to San Giorgio. I will explain that installation later-- ABSOLUTELY loved it--look on the pictures.

Demonstration of Ecoli--Ironic?

Loved this installation! Started out with a huge block of clay and white walls and the vistors have created their own masterpiece.

Make sense?

My addition-- Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is-- his good, pleasing, and perfect will.--Romans 12:2

San Giorgio-- This was one of my favorite things that we have seen. This is all a play on air flow, water, and light. The installation is symbolic of Jesus assending into Heaven. The fans create a delicate airflow that can be disturbed by human movement--therefor, everyone must be still for it to work. At certain times a lit tunnel is created by the fans and smoke that is let out from the bottom. It was absolutely incredible to see in person.

Hope you all enjoyed the post! Still having the time of my life--miss you guys!

Not goodbye, but see you later.

Oh Venice. There is nothing I can say to describe this place. I absolutely loved it. I will go back to Venice as soon as I get the chance! The atmosphere in itself was incredible to me. I was surrounding by art the entire time and that truly made me realize how much I miss painting all of the time. So, I am going to start to paint on a regular basis again. Venice is literally a floating city. It is built on wooden stilts so that it can withstand the water. I did not see a car or a bicycle the whole time we were in this city, but instead everyone has a boat that you use to transport yourself from one spot to the next. We went to a lot of art exhibits and installations throughout Venice but I am going to post them separately so that you don't get confused by the vast amount of photos. ha! Here are some that are just describing the city in general. This was by far my favorite place. Again, I will come back.... hint hint

Coldplay

Okay....I will say it. The coolest concert I have ever to. Yes mom, it was at the Heineken festival... oopsies. However, it was incredible. I am a nerd and thought that the lighting effects were the coolest part. At one point they created a separate plane of light that mimicked the sky. From the hill behind it literally looked like the audience was under clouds. So cool! I got to see Jenni too! We had a lot of fun and I am so glad we got to spend a little time together over here!

do i miss 100 degree weather? no i do not.

hello everyone!

Again, I am sorry for the delay but the only way to get enough wifi to post is to take a trek to the library. The last week has been filled with work. Our day begins at 9 and the work ends around 5-6ish. After that, all of us have gone and explored the city trying to take it all end. We only have about three weeks left, which sounds long, but will go by very quickly. This week will consist of work on Monday and Tuesday, a day trip to Vecenza on Wednesday, Coldplay possibly on Thursday, and then Venice for the weekend. I am very, very excited about Venice!

It has rained for the last 3 days or so, and when I say rain.... I mean rain! It will rain for about 3 or 4 hours with incredibly heavy showers and thunder. Last night I fell asleep to thunder. If you know me at all, you should know that I do love a good rainy day. Mom, you are not going to like this story but I will tell it anyhow. On Sunday, we got the day off, so Saturday night we all went to get a class of wine together (keep in mind we had not really left the hostel very much at night because we have a curfew). So, we all got dressed up and are about to walk out the door when BOOM..... here comes the monsoon rain. As we all stand in the front door of the hostel pondering what to do, my assertive nature haaaaaa ha comes out to play. Opened up my umbrella. Took off my shoes. Took a 15 minute walk down to the piazza in the pouring rain, enjoyed my glass of wine, and walked back shoes in hand. It. Was. wonderful!!!

Our Sunday was absolutely perfect. Consisted of getting to sleep in, relaxing, and enjoying each others company. We all spent the day around the city, enjoy Verona and not thinking about school. Around 5:30 we decided to walk back to the hostel so we could have a little time for dinner. God said no thank you. We got caught in a HUGE rainstorm. Literally sprinting to the closest coffee shop we could find.... which was not close. So, we spent another hour talking about life and having a cappuccino... I am getting good at that! After that, we headed back up to the hostel, enjoying dinner and a movie while it thunderstormed.

I am reading a new book called A Thousand Splendid Suns. It is by the same author as Kite Runner which I read a few years ago. i will let you know how it goes. As for right now I will post some pictures of the work that has been done this week and kind of explain the concept.

Project: Acting School

Our project is to design an acting school and plaza because of the rich culture of theatre here in Verona. As you saw in the last project, the focus was to blur the line between performance and circulation, reality and fiction. Through this project, the same idea will be utilized. An acting school is essentially a school of falsity. The students are learning how to be fictitious. So, the idea will then be carried over in a sense of blurring the idea of fiction and reality through the use of light and shadow. Shadow being the "black box" theatre and light being reality. More to come but there is a little introduction. Hope it atleast makes a little sense! haha

Thats the project:)
