I am reading this book called When Crickets Cry and it may just be one of the best books I have ever read! We all know how I am about quotes, so I decided to share some of my favorites from this book.
"I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. I will not refuse to do the something I can do." Helen Keller
"You stir man to take pleasure in praising You, because You have made us for Yourself, and our heart is restless until it rests in You." Saint Augustine
"The people who are really thirsty aren't going to church on Sunday. They're driving around this lake, running from their secrets, looking for a good, quiet, fill your stomach place to eat. Trying to fill that God-shaped hole with a bigger house boat, a second mistress, whatever. So let's take the bucket to them. Speak to the heart and the head will follow."
"Be near me when my light is low, when blood creeps, and the nerves prick and tingle; and the heart is sick, and all the wheels of Being slow. Be near me when the sensuous frame is rack'd with pains that conquer trust; and Time, a maniac scattering dust, and Life, a Fury slinging flame."
"I had no more control over this 'ship' than I had over the boats we built and floated down the creek as kids. We might glide across the surface, row in perfect, clean strokes, or swim discreetly in the shallows, but in the end... the water carried us."
"From out of your heart, you speak."
more to come:)
